Unfortunately the standard browser interface for choosing dates is really confusing. To reduce the effort of using some Springer Nature forms, I needed to create a custom date range picker. A British solution
Don’t create a design system. At least not until you have done your design work and actually evaluated the alternatives. But, why?
Some companies try to understand how satisfied I am with their public toilet. I don't think their method works. A new button can help.
I am forgetful. So I invented a way for my washing machine to communicate with me. No, no cats where hurt in the machine :)
I was recently asked to give an example of where I get my inspiration. I immediately though about the transformation of the British train operating company First Great Western into Great Western Railway (GWR). Hard work that was well managed and gave great results.
On Bernies iPad we failed to order a print from WhiteWall.com. On my Mac it went quite smoothly and we appreciated the good overview that we had throughout the process. With some further developments, WhiteWall will get Bernies top score. Listen to our experience of the site.
Some places are difficult to feel affection for, despite me desperately wanting to fall in love. Chipperfield Kantine is one such place. It's a problem of layout.
My boyfriend Bernie is an avid fan of Design Hotels, a company that represents and markets a hand-picked collection of hotels from across the globe. Bernie appreciates the curation work that Design Hotels has done and especially likes that he can get to know the persons who have built and now run the hotels. However, after a redesign of the designhotels.com site two years ago Bernie could no longer log in to his account or book stays via the site. Hear my interview with Bernie.
When reviewing Drippler I found one "catastrophic" issue and two major problems. Transcript and all problems I found.

Cirka has chosen to forgo the traditional monolithic news article format. Instead, they provide news in small chunks. This enable me to get quickly updated on stories and enable Cirkas editors to reuse content. Self contained units of content.
Many Swedish video on demand services are great successes. They receive millions of visits each day and a ridiculous amount of video is streamed from them. But, they are completely based on video. So, what happens when the episodes can not tell the whole story? The Mello Problem.
One all to common organizing principle is Content Type. It is easy to spot when it has been used by looking for words such as "downloads", "publications", "videos" and "forums" in menus on sites and apps. Sometimes it's a problem, sometimes it's not.
We had a problem at Barnkanalen.se, the website for kids from the Swedish public service TV provider SVT. A lot of our content – shows and games – is not accessible to all. Many shows are restricted to being watched on devices in in Sweden. Most games are created with Flash and thus not usable on iOS and Android devices. "Go explore, we think you will find a new favourite!"
Some shower faucets have more then one outlet – one for a shower head and one for filling the bath tub, for example. In these, the water temperature and water flow is set once and a lever is used to switch between the outlets. The design of that switching mechanism can be quite horrid.
I had the pleasure of staying in the UFO at the Thee Hotel over midsummer. Since the room is suspended between three pines there is no running water. Instead, there are shared showers in a separate building. And an incineration toilet in the UFO.
Over the last 100 years, bathroom and kitchen faucets have become very common. Have you thought about how much they have changed over time?
Using the same volume of water for all flushes is wasteful. Perhaps using water at all is too wasteful for the planet. But using a toilet where there is a choice of a small or a big flush is, I imagine, a small step forward. 6 examples of flush buttons.
